The state's rusty budget can is already in next year's alley.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger demanded that the state solve its structural budget problems for good this summer, in Arnold-speak repeating he no longer wanted to "kick that can down the alley."

ID sought for body found in American River

Sacramento County Coroner's officials today are trying to determine the identity of a man whose body was found in the American River.
The body was discovered at about 12:45 p.m. Sunday in the river, southeast of the Highway 160 bridge, a coroner's official said.
