Lawsuit seeks to bankrupt Klan group
Teenager Jordan Gruver, an American citizen of Panamanian descent, took a beating at a county fair in Kentucky that left him with a broken jaw and left forearm, two cracked ribs and cuts and bruises. Now he and the Southern Poverty Law Center are suing the Imperial Klans of America and hope to win damages large enough to put the supremacist group out of business

Rancho Cordova police officer dies after traffic accident

Treasury changes course on bailout, won't buy bad mortgages

The Treasury Department reversed course on its massive bailout effort today, saying it would not use the $700 billion rescue fund approved by Congress to purchase bad mortgage securities but instead will continue pumping money into banks to boost their lending ability while it looks for ways to get more money flowing for school loans, credit cards and other consumer purchases.
