US President-elect Barack Obama and incumbent George Bush held their first meeting since last week’s electionMr. Obama and Mr. Bush agreed on the importance of working together in transitioning the government during a time of war and national financial crisis.
Both men spoke respectfully of one another before their first meeting in the Oval Office.
Few details were revealed after the private talks that lasted just under two hours, however Mr. Obama said the discussions had been wide-ranging.

Stock market causes concerns for retirees
Days of fear and uncertainty have arrived for retirees across the country due to the falling stock market.
In theory, retired people should live a comfortable life, however that is not the case in our struggling economy.
For years retirement and financial advisers have said that elderly people should lightly invest in stocks and put the majority of their money in super safe investments.
Many people ignored this advice due to low interest rates and saw a risk in not keeping money in stocks.

Struggles continue over Prop. 8
Protestors and supporters are still fighting more than a week after the majority of voters passed the controversial Prop. 8 which bans same-sex marriage.
Conflicts have still taken place in court rooms, at protest and in personal attacks.
“Let’s move on. I always told my children that once a rule was made, you have to abide by it. I think it should be the same in this circumstance.” Said Dave Leatherby, owner of the Leatherby Family Creamery in Sacramento and supporter of Prop. 8.

Possible cure for AIDSA doctor said on Wednesday that one of his male American patients appears to has been cured of the AIDS disease 20 months after receiving a bone marrow transplant.
Dr. Gero Huetter said that his 42-year-old patient had been diagnosed with the AIDS virus more than a decade ago.
Doctors and researchers have note ruled out the possibility of this phenomenon to be by chance but have raised interest in researching gene therapy to fight the disease.

Incoming Mayor Kevin Johnson will bring change to Sacramento
Kevin Johnson has made it clear to the people of Sacramento that he will be a different type of chief executive than they are used to.
It is predicted that by the time Johnson takes office on Nov. 25, he could be accompanied by a transition team of 100 people.
In the future Johnson plans to make Sacramento more visible on a national stage.

Prank newspaper creates false hope across the nation
A prank newspaper disguised as a issue of The New York Times hit some of the nations biggest cities Wednesday morning creating false hope for some of the worlds greatest issues.
Across the country 100 volunteers handed out 1.2 million copies of the newspaper that was dated July 4, 2009.
The newspaper that informed readers that the war in Afghanistan and Iraq had ended and global warming, health care spending and the economy‘s problems were on their way to being solved hit the streets of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
The intent of the newspaper that was created by a film promoter, a college teacher, journalist and others, was to encourage the administration of Democratic President-elect Barack Obama to keep his promises. By VERENA DOBNIK

Bowling in Saudi Arabia
Fear overtook the Saudi youth, dressed in their western style clothing, when the men from the Committee to Promote Virtue and Prevent Vice arrived at a shopping mall in Jeddah.
This group has been known to attack and arrest the men and women of Saudi Arabia who support western styles and behaviors.
The latest appearance however, had different intentions, the bearded men engaged in what was described as a friendly game of bowling.
The people of the kingdom have questioned if this was an attempt by the committee members to brighten their public image.

Sarah Palin wishes she would have talked more to the media
After the conclusion of the presidential race former Republican vice president candidate Sarah Palin said Wednesday that she wished she would have participated in more interviews with the media throughout the campaign.
Palin also said that she does not regret her interview in late September with Katie Couric of CBS despite being annoyed with some of the questions.
“In retrospect, in hindsight, I wish I would had more opportunities or that we would have seized more opportunities to speak more,” said Palin.

The U.S. military launches TroopTube
TroopTube is a Pentagon regulated video website that has been launched for troops, their families and supporters.
The military and Seattle startup Delve Network started TroopTube more than a year after the military banned the use of YouTube and other video sites.
Members will now be able to post personal videos from anywhere with internet connection, however the Pentagon will closely monitor the videos taste, copyright violations and national security threats. By JESSICA MINTZ

Michael Jackson has turned over Neverland Ranch to a corporation
After Michael Jackson’s financial empire took a major crash in 2003 leaving him near financial ruin, he resorted to forfeit his 2,500 acre property to a corporation entity.
The name of the entity is Sycamore Valley Ranch Co. which exists as an affiliate for Colony Capital LLC a company Jackson partially owns.
Jackson defaulted on the 24.5 million he owes on the property and as a result was bailed out of the foreclosure by the corporate entity.
After Jackson turned the ranch property into an amusement park in an attempt to rekindle his lost childhood, he struggled to pay back the large debt. By ROBERT JABLON
